Granite Wall

As I walked one day along a winding path through fields of flowers and shrubbery's and fruit trees.  I came upon a granite wall, its beauty was serpentine and finely crafted; it moved me by what man had done with the treasures that God had provided.  So I stood there, lost in the moment.
And that's when it happened, the wall said in a voice that took me and shook me, see in me what you want to see, and do with me what you want to be.
And of course I turned first to see, if some one was watching, if someone was playing with me.  Or perhaps it's just an emotion that's decided to have its way today.  At any rate, there is nothing before me that I can see .  And when I'm on this path my emotion is calm, that is why I walk this path, you see!
So I turn to the wall and say in a whisper, are you talking to me? Or were you conversing with God I am sure I heard you speak. Or perhaps I just drank too much coffee, I think. But I don't think I got what you said.
Its Odd that you heard me said the wall in a voice that was ever so lonely and dry, do you hear me now, or am I trapped in this prison left alone here forever to die…
Oh I heard you all right, How may I help you?  I would be glad to do what ever you need, in fact I feel obligated because of the beauty and peace that you've brought to me.
Well, the wall said, I was speaking to God and explaining my plight, in lost desperation with my last hope in prayer.  And just when I thought there would be no answer, He opened your ears to hear what I said.  And now I am certain that you're here to help me, for I have not changed in these many years.  And with out change, nothing of beauty can withstand the passing of time around here.
I will do what I can to bring about change, but these hands are just                     human, and your stones are enormous.  I will try to reshape you … this could take forever, but I'll do it, because it will be a change for me to
And so I started to dig in the earth with my hands, because they were the only tools that I had.  I was digging a foundation, so the wall would be strong, and forever sound in the wind.   And as I dug just where I wanted to dig, in the richness of God's fertile earth, I found a solid rock to build the wall on, just inches below as if planted there from birth.  And I marveled at the ease and comfort with which the task before me was going so I finished the digging and preparation for building by early the following morning.
Just In time for the sunrise I turned to the Heavens, to absorb the colors of crimson and blue.  And that's when God spoke and said let me help you, you're the tools that I needed to do. I had to bow my head and prey in fear of what my soul would reveal pried open by God, and he said to me fear not my child, my builder of walls, for my needs have been met and your task is complete.
When I turned back around, right there before me, the wall rose up and grew in perfection.  And I herd the wall say I thank God for my faith, and the way that he used his wisdom today. For all that I needed was to be understood, and loved enough to be what I could.
So I walked down the path as the spring met the morning light, and I realized that the weight of the wall, had been lifted from my plight.  Never to be the same, I was smiling and filled with contentment, and all it took for this great endeavor was a moment of profound commitment.
