The story begins in a far away land
where time has forgotten the need for progression.
The mood is set by an eloquent stroll
down moss covered brick ways and boxwood processions.
The buildings are adorned with marble and granite
contoured into shapes of the heart.
They caress the landscape as if they were born there
and had been there from the start.
The back drop of hillside grazed into carpet
and tented by blue sky is all inspiration.
The clouds seem to dance with the wind across tree tops,
as song birds serenade in life's celebration.
It's a place where children are of free spirit,
free to find where destiny awaits.
As they discover the world, they keep their sanctuary,
they know in their lives its never too late.
There is time in the day for laughter and games,
to work out the rules that will serve them forever.
There is a need in their way to resolve their problems
and succeed in what their heart may endeavor.
As time passes into tomorrow
our collective security is called on for reason.
What we can give will stand as testimony
for what we were given in an earlier season.
The tools we use in every day life
are those we gathered in an earlier time,
when we were the children that cared only for freedom
and followed no reason or rhyme.
So let them play
and imagine their happiness
for these are the things
that build hope in souls.
So soothing are these things
that make a life whole.
